Scott Darlow
Scott Darlow, an Aboriginal singer-songwriter and educator from Yorta Yorta country, recently shared his culture and insights with Grade 7 and 9 students.
For Grade 7, the experience was a cultural journey brought to life through storytelling and the evocative sounds of the Yidaki. Students experienced firsthand how this traditional instrument enhances narratives of Aboriginal culture, traditions, and deep connection to the land.
For Grade 9, the focus shifted to the significant impact of colonisation on Aboriginal people. Through his music and powerful narratives, Scott explored the historical events and their enduring consequences, prompting students to critically consider the past and its ongoing relevance.
Both presentations offered valuable opportunities to learn directly from an Aboriginal perspective, fostering understanding and encouraging reflection on Australia's history and the importance of reconciliation.
